Treatment of Brain Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas (DAVF)

ENDOVASCULAR EMBOLIZATION

Embolization is the first line of attack in the management of this condition. It may be done as the sole form of treatment or in preparation for radiosurgery or open surgery.

During Endovascular embolization through a catheter placed into the blood vessels materials ( Coils, glue-NBCA, Onyx) are injected to block off the vessels. Blockage of arteries, vein (sinus), or both may be needed. Multiple treatments may be needed to close the fistula.
