Treatment of Ischemic Stroke

Immediate treatment for a stroke may limit or prevent brain damage.

Within the first three hours from the onset of stroke symptoms a thrombolytic agent or “clot buster” medication can be given via intravenous infusion.

Within the first eight hours from the onset of stroke symptoms a new FDA-approved “concentric device” can be used to remove blockage from arteries in the brain.  Hence, it is critical to get to the hospital quickly if you experience stroke symptoms. The fastest way is to call 911.
